In order to recognize any object, you need first to set at least one reference image for that object.
The reference image is part of an item. Items are grouped into collections. Typically, a single app points to one collection when performing image recognition.
The other part of an item is the content or experience that you want to trigger once the object is recognized.
There are two types of items:
- Full-fledged Augmented Reality: those items use all features to show content overlaid on top of the real world. Examples are 3D objects, animations and interactive buttons. The AR content is designed either in the webpanel or through an authoring tool such as Unity3D. This tutorial shows only the CraftAR online content creator. Refer to the Developer Guide for Unity3D development.
- Image Recognition only: those items skip the pop-up effect and lead directly to content in full-screen. Examples are coupons, videos or product ratings. We provide one pre-defined field named URL to facilitate your app development, but you can also use the Custom field to add any text information that you want your app to receive.
This video tutorial shows the steps to create an Augmented Reality item with CraftAR. At the end of the tutorial, you see how to add a button and a video that appear overlaid on the reference object.
