Let us help find the best option for you
You have several options when using CraftAR, depending on your needs.
What type of experience do you want to show?
Do you want the app to stand alone (with no need for Internet connection)?
How often do you need to update the database of objects?
When you upload an image to CraftAR, you select the specific Collection (group of images) that image belongs to. At the time of recognition, your app searches only inside one specific Collection.
This allows you to have multiple apps within the same account: each pointing to a different Collection, and therefore each with separate analytics, management and secure content separation.
What is Tag Management for your collections good for?
Tags allow you to group items inside a specific collection and then create on-device bundles including one of those subsets defined by a tag.
You can assign tags to specific items based on the logic that your app requires. For example, you can differentiate product categories to create different bundles, or, group items allocated to a certain user – so that only the items that belong to the specific user will be embedded in the app on the user’s device to keep it light-weight and relevant.
What is a Visual Scan?
An attempt to scan any object, regardless of the result. A Cloud Visual Scan is a request sent from your app to the CraftAR Cloud Service to recognize an object. An On-Device Visual Scan is performed by the On-Device Image Recognition SDK, which has no scan limits.
Single Shot scanning mode each user sends only one request each time, while Finder Mode’s continuous scanning sends about 2 requests (2 images) per second until there is a match, which are counted towards the cloud scan quota.
What happens if I get more scans than those included in my plan?
Overage scanning is allowed in Plus and Pro plans. If you go above the monthly allowance, charges apply. Contact us to know more about overage pricing.
Do I need a paid subscription for the CraftAR Service to publish an ‘offline app’?
You need to have a paid subscription at the moment of purchasing one of our add-ons (On-Device Image Recognition, Augmented Reality, or both) to be able to create and manage your collections and generate on-device bundles that allow you to distribute your app into a public app store.
Once you’ve created those bundles and synced them in your apps, you can go back to a free subscription. Upon downgrading to a Free plan, the on-device collection bundles that you have already embedded in your applications during your paid service period will continue to work inside your apps (and without the watermark, in the case of AR).
However, as part of a Free plan, you will only be entitled to have 1 collection, with up to 20 images in CraftAR, and can perform up to 1000 cloud scans in total. Therefore, you need to remove all excessive cloud and on-device collections and items from the CraftAR platform upon downgrading to a Free plan.
When you want to generate or update on-device bundles for a published app, or create and manage collections and items above the limits of the Free plan, you will need to subscribe to a paid plan again.
Can I use Cloud Image Recognition when I don’t have an active paid subscription plan, or if I have downgraded to a Free plan?
Whether you have purchased an add-on in the past or not, once you have downgraded to a Free plan, you will only be entitled to use 1000 cloud scans in total, and have 1 collection with up to 20 images inside the CraftAR platform as long as you stay on a Free plan.
